El poeta
Fora de l’abisme i la foscor,
un misteri radiant, una figuració,
alguna cosa perfecta,
ve com el tremp del dia:
el seu alè és una flaire,
els ulls mostren el camí a les estrelles,
brisa al seu rostre,
glòria del cel a l’esquena.
Avança com una visió a mig aire,
disseminant la passió d’eternitat;
sa casa és la llum matinera del sol,
la música del capvespre el seu dir:
on posa la mirada,
hom abandona la pols del sepulcre
i puja cap al bosc.
The poet
Out of the deep and the dark,
A sparkling mystery, a shape,
Something perfect,
Comes like the stir of the day:
One whose breath is an odor,
Whose eyes show the road to stars,
The breeze in his face,
The glory of heaven on his back.
He steps like a vision hung in air,
Diffusing the passion of eternity;
His abode is the sunlight of morn,
The music of eve his speech:
In his sight,
One shall turn from the dust of the grave,
And move upward to the woodland.
